All Support for Families services are provided free of charge to families and the professionals who work with them.Our Services
Phone Line/Drop-In Center/Resource Libraries
Support for Families staff (parents themselves) can provide individualized information, referrals, and help. Phone Line Staff speak Chinese, English, Spanish. More than 3,000 books, videotapes, DVD's and toys are available to families and professionals.Support Groups
Support groups help families find solutions to challenges, learn advocacy skills, explore resources, and gain strength by sharing experiences with peers.Volunteer Parent Mentors
Trained volunteer Parent Mentors can be matched with a family based on a shared culture, language, or disability issue.
Educational Workshops and Clinics
Based on needs expressed by families, monthly parent/professional workshops and weekly small-group clinics help parents and professionals learn about resources, rights and responsibilities.
Family Links to Mental Health
Peer parents and mental health clinicians provide peer support, professional consultation, and help for families and professionals in accessing mental health and other services for children.
Family Gatherings
Quarterly events, such as an annual ice-skating party and Halloween party give families a chance to socialize and network in a fun, relaxed atmosphere.
Community Outreach
Staff and volunteers make presentations and conduct training on disability issues and parent perspectives to university classes, community agencies, and professional groups.
Newsletter
A quarterly Newsletter in English, Spanish, and Chinese offers articles of interest to families, professionals, and the community.
